We planned to visit three attractions. One of them was cold, one of them was hot.
We started the day by taking care of the clients.
We drove all the way up to the second highest point of the island, Miradouro do Pico da Barrosa. We stopeed at various places until we got to the top. The peak is a stunning viewpoint, it stands at 947 meters above sea level and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the beautiful Lagoa do Fogo. After parking the car, we went up to a radio tower from where you really can see everything and have a full 360-degree view. You can bot see the north coastline and Ponta Delgada. It is cold and windy this time.
On our way to north we had a hot bath at Caldeira Velha, and this was my first visit as well. This is also a very popular place, you have to queu in the summer, and one can stay only one and half hour with the ticket. The pools are the part of the Caldeira Velha Environmental Interpretation Centre (Centro de Interpretação Ambiental da Caldeira Velha), which offers an interpretative exhibition about the volcanic origin of the islands, especially the Fogo Volcano and Caldeira Velha, highlighting their biodiversity, geodiversity, geothermal and thermal resources. We really loved this place.
Being all warm and relaxed, we went for a cup of local tea at the Gorreana Tea Plantation and Factory. To visit the factory is free. There is a giftshop inside with various local gifts and sweets, and a buffet where you can grab a sandwich and a cup of hot tea with an ocean view.
It was a long day and started to get dark. On our way to home on the north coastline we stopped at Miradouro de Santa Iria for pictures. It was raining up north; you could catch a rainbow in the distance.
