Fourth day, Monday, November 11, Furnas

Where are we now?

I woke up earlier and went for a run while Viola woke up.

The weather was perfect for a run.

Coming back, we made some sandwiches for the day.

The clients were chilling outside.

On our way to Funras we stopped at Parque de Merendas do Cerrado dos Bezerros park, which is already up on a hill, so it was a little but colder and foggy. Since we are off season, and this must be a lesser-known public park we were all alone. It was a perfect place to eat our sandwiches as well.

In Furnas at first, we took a hot bath in Poça da Dona Beija and went into all pools and stayed as long as it possible which is one and a half hour.

After that came the Parque Terra Nostra park, which is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Azores ( Established in 1775, it’s one of the most historic gardens in the archipelago); has one of the largest thermal pools in Europe ( The iconic iron-rich, orange-coloured geothermal pool is among the largest of its kind in Europe) and an extensive plant collection – it has one of the most diverse collections of camellias (over 600 species) and exotic plants from around the world. The pool was closed as it was under construction.

Viola was amazed as well as everyone, who comes for the first time.

On our way back home, we tried to finish a cheese platter together, but it was to much even though we are crazy for cheese. The place also has their hand-made candies, and we bought a dozen of them in various flavour.
