The castle is the joint artistic work of artist and architect Jenő Bory and his wife, which they created based on their own ideas and plans, as the work of their two hands for more than 40 summers.
Jenő Bory was born on 9 November 1879 in Székesfehérvár. The history of the castle begins in 1912 with the purchase of land; its construction began in 1923 and lasted until Bory’s death (1959); It has been open to the public since 1934.
The castle is a twenty-minute bus ride and a 5-minute walk from the train station. The building materials of the castle are concrete and reinforced concrete, as Jenő Bory – as a researcher and expert – was mainly interested in the wide application of concrete. In the garden of the castle, he placed his own sculptures, while in the studio, in addition to his wife’s paintings, paintings by other famous artists can also be seen; It is decorated with sculptures, paintings, mosaics, stained glass windows. It has evolved year after year without a comprehensive blueprint, combining symbolic elements and artistic flourishing. The castle boasts seven towers, thirty rooms and three studios. In the central areas there is a chapel dedicated to conjugal love and a studio.
The place is interesting and exciting, a break from the usual and everyday architecture. I liked its experimental nature; the little mosaics and decorations hidden here and there that came to life in the sunlight.
