Our next stop was the town of Zambujeira do Mar, where we had a coffee.
The small town is a peaceful fishing village known for its fantastic views and the Nossa da Senhora do Mar (Our Lady of the Sea) Chapel. Located near the beautiful Costa Vicentina, along the famous Fishermen’s Trail hike, it is a wonderful place for anyone who loves wild beaches and views of huge cliffs.
Whitewashed houses with picturesque terracotta roofs stand in small groups everywhere. The chapel stands in the middle of a small square, with an entrance facing the ocean, witnessing beautiful sunsets every day; It stands at a height of several tens of meters above the waves.
In the southern part of the town you can go down to the shore, where you walk for meters only in the sand, until you reach the shallow water, where small children and dogs play mostly on the beach. We also went down for a walk and circled the small streams formed in the sand between two- or three-meters high rocks.
Mafalda gets renewed strength from her second coffee…
After this we went to Praiai do Carvahal beach not far from here…
