Rome

Where are we now?

Rome is the last stop on the 170-day journey and its perfect end. You could write a good few thing about the city, like two subway lines, lots of tourists, and not so clean, but everything is so authentic, true, and romantic that it overwrites everything.

The city is perfect even in the rain; you can’t get bored with a camera in your hand.

This is my favorite place, Castel Sant’Angelo,

and this is the view from the top towards the Vatican ….

… and downtown.

I left two interesting stories at the end of the pictures. The first: here you can see the most interesting keyhole in the world by day (internet image):

This is the building of the Embassy of the Order of Malta in Rome. And why is the keyhole interesting? As the garden is officially a Maltese sovereignty, through a keyhole you can see three countries: Italy, Malta and the Vatican (as it also counts as a separate state).

The other story is an optical illusion, which unfortunately can only be perceived while sitting in a car. I was lucky enough to experience it because the hostel owner took our couple on a night tour and he showed it. And incomprehensible: the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica on this street moving away by car will not get smaller and smaller, but on the contrary, bigger, and bigger!

And finally, a little romance from the base of my favourite place:
